Aeroplane

Ink, Printer Paper

Illustrated is a plane with two wings, and cabin windows. Three windows for three moments of time: past, present, and future.

I got into an argument. I didn’t know what the argument was about, I didn’t know what I did wrong. They got so angry, they threw a basket full of fruit at me, and told me to leave. I ducked, and ran upstairs.

I felt like a passenger, with no control of what was happening. Simply observing, through these little tiny windows.

Each moment moving by, turning from present to past. Going from one window view, to the next. You can look down your tiny little window and see it, irretrievable, carved into the landscape. I can’t change the way the mountain is carved, I’m just a passenger on a plane.

I wonder what the window in front of me can see. The window to the future. I can guess based on the landscapes available to me, but it could change drastically. Are we landing soon? Where are we going?

Maybe we’ll go somewhere far away, where things are different. Where people communicate differently, even when expressing the same sentiment. Kind of like how in the states, we say “airplane,” but other places would say “aeroplane.” They both mean the same thing, but said a little differently. Maybe I’ll go somewhere where things will be said differently to me. And I’ll say different things back. And we can be nice, polite, and proper.

Until then, I’m going to stay passenger on this plane.

This piece was made by breaking my pen in half, and smearing it.
