In Your Head
March 22, 2015
Ink, Adobe Illustrator
This illustration depicts various sections of the brain, as well as the different layers of the subconscious. Within the piece are several different heads and faces.
There are different ways I can interpret the self.
There are different ways that others interpret and define me.
Who am I to contradict another’s definition of me?
Can my and their definition both be true?
Who am I truly?
Am I who I say I am or who you say I am?
Am I neither? Am I both? Am I wrong?
Am I a quilt, made up of little pieces of both of us?
Am I, to you, a reflection of your interpretation of yourself, projected onto me?
Are my experiences true? Or is it all in my head, like you say it is?
Who am I, to contradict your reality.
When you contradict mine.
Drawn on paper, scanned in, with final adjustments made in Adobe Illustrator.
